You’re a rockstar at work, and you know how to take care of everyone in your family. That is not the problem.
The problem is what you've been swallowing and sacrificing for years to do it. Maybe it’s the comment at dinner. Or the plans that always bend to everyone else's. It’s for sure the anger you're ashamed of. And let’s not even mention all the yearning, pressed down so long that when someone asks what you want, you shake with unmet hunger.
So you keep swallowing because somewhere you learned that if you just accommodate enough, it'll finally be your turn.
But it's never your turn.
Here's the truth of what actually happened. You were trained to be a refrigerator. Provide. Feed. Nurture. To hum quietly in the corner while everyone else eats. A refrigerator gives and needs nothing back. That’s its job.
But you are not a refrigerator.
So after years of swallowing the hurt, the resentment, the rage — you blow. And then comes the shock, the drama, the "what has gotten INTO you" from the very people who trained you. Because guess what? Their refrigerator just blew up, and they don't know what to do. They just eat here.
And here's the cruelest part. The explosion becomes proof used against you. They make it costly. You end up apologizing for the one moment you were honest, and everyone — including you — goes back to pretending the twenty years that loaded it never happened. You don't come out of it with your needs met. You come out looking and feeling like you’re the crazy one.
That is all conditioning and training.
Here's what 25 years of this work has taught me: there is nothing wrong with you. Women are raised into niceness the way people are raised in a culture or religion — automatically, invisibly, before thought. This same conditioning that has you apologizing each time you think of yourself before others is the conditioning a whole system runs on. Hell, our whole world runs on it.
I don’t say that as metaphor. There is a straight line between women's trained self-sacrifice and how much of our lives we're allowed to claim and own.
I'm Ana Del Castillo — certified coach, artist, and Women's Rightness Expert. Rightness, meaning a quiet mind and an emotional body that are not at war with themselves. And a state of being where you are comfortable in your skin, your anger, your grief, your joy. Unashamed of who you are, no matter who taught you to be.
I don't teach you to become someone new — that’s your old training. I teach you the pathway to claiming who you are and the exact words to stop disappearing— in your marriage, your family, your work, your life.
Not a way out. Not a way around. Through.
